A Town Between Two Lakes
Windermere sits on a narrow strip of land between Lake Down and Lake Butler. It was named after Windermere, the lake in England's Lake District, and the town was incorporated on February 2, 1925. Most streets in the downtown grid are still dirt roads, apart from a few through roads.

Roads and Schools Around Windermere
Chase Road connects the town to County Road 535, which runs north to Winter Garden and SR 50 and south toward Lake Buena Vista. If you buy inside the downtown grid, expect to drive on unpaved streets every day.
